6. February

Themes this month:

-Groundhog Day

-100th day celebration

-Presidents’ Day

-Teeth and Dental Health

-Body systems

-African American History

-Fractions, measurement

Valentine’s Day:  If you choose to have your child participate in our celebration, please send un-addressed valentines, and we will distribute them just after lunch.  If they are each addressed to individual students, it can be very confusing getting all of the valentines to exactly the right person in the allotted time.  Please don’t send candy.  We have a “Healthy School” designation, and we can’t distribute candy.

100th Day Celebration:  This is the biggest celebration of our year in Kindergarten.  We will have been in school for 100 days.  We are observing this momentous occasion in February!  One of the ways that we celebrate is to make a tasty mixture of 100 things.  If you would like to help, we will be looking for donations of the following items:

-bags (or boxes) of small pretzels (not individual size bags, because we distribute them among all five classes)

-boxes of plain Cheerios

-several boxes of Froot Loops cereal (or the generic equivalent)

If you would like to donate any of the above, let me know.  Also, we need an additional donation of two bags of mini-marshmallows for our unit on Dental Health.  I know what you are thinking– don’t worry.  It’s not an experiment in tooth decay.
