Under The Microscope Today

We put some old spider web strings under the microscope today and got a big surprise.  The threads are much thinner than hair and they are covered in perfectly round bead-like things.

It just made everybody want to know more, including me.  Any ideas why this happens?

Like Mrs. Wanberg says, there is beauty all around us.

For those of you who were thinking that the round objects are micro beads of water, look at the result of pressing on the cover slip– several have ruptured.  Not at all like water.

Any guesses?
